A CRASS’ VITAL STATISTICS

Sitting idle on the chair, made mind to invade with beeline of thoughts, all about the sedentary carrier, which was because of the kind of education got during the academic years, damn it! Cursed my past. Incidentally a bird sitting on a branch of a tree directly in front of the window hawking towards a pray attracted my attention, alerted by the entrance of a guy who neatly tucked his shirt in the front, and on the backside it looked as if left out to cover the tattered pant.

Before I would make any gesture to wish him and ask for to sit, he bust out into billion dollar smile with a faint sound, and dumped himself on the chair. His attitude made me to relax myself, before I would pose any question, fellow with slightly altered and depressed mood uttered, "doc! I have gotta some feeling of discomfort inside." I waited for further talk, but the fellow just kept watching the baby poster on the wall of my clinic. I did a thorough study of the patient at glance, he looked somewhat disoriented and tense. By now I could learn he is mentally disturbed.

To sooth him, I asked in a consoling voice, "well, what makes you discomfortable?". The fellow’s face lightened up, "Sir, you know, that Americans have agreed to sell arsenals worth of billions of dollars to Pakistan, that is what makes me feel extremely frustrated". Amazed by his information, I asked "how it makes you to feel discomfortable?". Fellow became serious, now he corrected his sitting posture on the chair put his both the hands on my table with the fingers locking each other, now his disposition was, as if he is an expert in any subject.

He proceeded to talk, "Look it, Doc, don’t you feel selling of arsenals worth of billions of dollars to Pakistan by America would prove a serious threat to Indian security?…. ‘cause of this I feel extremely fearful about their arms dealing…. Doc, you see, it is not only I am who is disturbed by their arms dealing, what I suppose, if you can get the statistics of increased number of patient coming to the clinics and hospital throughout the country, in recent days after the sale agreement has been approved , and inquiring them what makes them to come to the hospital you would get a reliable figures how military affairs could disturb people’s health. You see, there is a wide scope in this regard, for the people who work with the vital statistics. Doc, are you getting what I say." He asked. In order not to disturb his seriousness over the matter, I controlled laugh inside and said , "yeah!, you may be right, this is a new branch for research." The fellow’s happiness knew no bounds.

I prescribed him some mind soothing tablets, in tern he put some bucks into my hand, I smiled, he said "thank you, doc.", in a Japanees style bending at his waist and went away.

After he left I just kept pondering over the matter given by him, again my thought process averted as a mother entered with her kid crying. Before she took the seat, I just thanked the fellow in my mind who dismantled my thoughts from cursing about by past to that something amusing.
